Homemade moleskine
I replaced the regular sketchbook paper with Fabriano hot pressed watercolour paper 200gm.
I know moleskine do a watercolour version but I prefer the portrait format and not too keen on textured paper. The hot press paper is really smooth so should be good to draw on (I hope). I made a simple press by just using 2 pieces of MDF wood and 4 bolts with washers and wing nuts. I followed this great guide here.
I used an old thin paper moleskine sketchbook that I hadn’t used for the cover. When I do it again I’d use a guide for punching the holes from inside to out as they weren’t as accurate as I’d like. Also I had made too many signatures, I only needed 7 rather than the 8 I made. One thing i couldn’t figure out really was how to cut the paper accurately, I measured it all out and tried to be as precise as I could but ended up a bit uneven (or homemade)
Now to test it out.
