I was commissioned to do a series of sketches/paintings following the restoration of this South African locomotive over 2 months for the new Museum of Transport which will be opening early next year (can&#8217;t wait). It was one of those dreams jobs, which was a total pleasure to do.

I had to work over two spreads to get a bigger view of the harbour.  I wasn&#8217;t sure how it would look to paint as its really difficult to paint a view with such a broad spectrum of colours literally red, yellow, green and blue usually I try and narrow my colour range.

I travelled over to the East coast last weekend to the wonderfully named Yetts O Muckhart. The Woodland Trust planted an area by the woodland with wildflowers poppies, blue cornflowers, pink campion and daisies.

I usually avoid trying these landscape views as they can be bands of sky, mountains, trees then grass. I liked the strange shape of the trees though.
